Curious about the story behind these stunning creations? We chatted with Laetitia to uncover her journey. She shared how her hair became her canvas: “It all began when I wanted to embrace my natural hair after years of straightening it. Growing up in Ivory Coast, straight hair felt like the only ‘beautiful’ option. I started relaxing my hair as a kid, but at 16, I chose to go natural. It wasn’t easy—I didn’t know how to love my texture.”
To find inspiration, Laetitia followed social media pages celebrating African hair and Black beauty. One day, she stumbled across photos of West African women rocking pre-colonial hairstyles. That moment sparked a creative fire she couldn’t ignore.

How does Laetitia bring these ideas to life? “I start with a quick sketch on paper to map out my vision,” she says. “Then, I sit in front of a mirror with hair extensions, wire, and thread, and get to work. It’s like sculpting clay, but softer and trickier. Some designs click right away, while others take hours of tweaking to get the shape just right.”

Laetitia’s process is hands-on and heartfelt. “I mold each piece right on my head, which can take six hours or more for complex designs,” she explains. “I usually snap the photos myself with a tripod, but my sister steps in for trickier shots. She’s been a huge help, though it’s tougher now with my travel schedule.”
Her inspiration? It’s a mix of personal stories, social issues, and pure beauty. “Sometimes I’m driven by my beliefs or experiences. Other times, I just want to create something that makes you stop and stare.”
