Mother and Child Observe Pride in 1985
Back in 1985, the mother in this photograph had only unrestricted love – and some greatly hand crafted Shirts – for her child while heading to an LGBTQ+ Pride walk. Pride marches and strolls started little with local area support in 1970, a reaction to the Stall occurrence of 1969, when police struck a gay bar on Christopher Road, New York City. Quick forward to the Pride march of 2016 in New York City, which saw 2.5 million participants!
