66% of the children at Montevallo Grade School are low-pay understudies enrolled in the Public School Lunch Program, which furnishes them with morning meals and snacks at free or diminished costs.
Assuming that the school was shut in the first part of the day, most children would go hungry, having nothing to have until lunch.
Allison Campbell, Head of Montevallo Rudimentary, told TODAY:
“For many understudies, that implies that they will not get to eat.”
