Werner was captured in 1943 by the Gestapo.
He was brought and put to prison in Terezin. From that point forward, he was taken to Auschwitz II. He went through two or three determinations before moving to Auschwitz I. Like Walter; he was sent on a seven-day demise walk before being freed around the same time.
With all that they went through, it’s not shocking how the two had the option to feel an association in a moment.
