Two sisters cheerfully, guiltlessly playing in the sand in 1940 in Zandvoort, an ocean-side retreat in the Netherlands. Terribly, only two years after the fact, the existence of these two young Jewish ladies in Holland would definitely be changed. In 1942, guidelines in regard to Jews came into place in Holland with the implementation of the yellow star, limitations on development, Jews being terminated from public positions and work environments, and Jewish youngsters being banned from government-funded schools. To get away from deportment, the Plain family self-isolated in a mystery add-on behind her dad’s workplaces in Amsterdam.
