Undeterred, researchers crafted a custom prosthetic tail fluke for Winter. With the new tail in place, Winter quickly adapted to her modified swimming style.

Lego To The Rescue!
Who would have thought that Lego blocks could serve a purpose beyond building toys? Blade, the tortoise, extraordinarily discovered this. Blade’s human noticed he was less active than her other tortoises, prompting a vet visit.
The diagnosis revealed that Blade was suffering from metabolic bone disease, which made it difficult for him to support the weight of his shell.
The innovative vet came up with a clever solution: crafting a custom “wheelchair” using six Lego blocks. These blocks were carefully glued to the underside of Blade’s shell.
It took Blade a bit of time to get used to his new mobility aid, but now he zooms around with newfound freedom! Blade’s story is a testament to resilience and ingenuity.

Bacon, this is only the beginning of the rest of his life.” As Chris has grown, he now uses a larger wheelchair-like device, but he continues to inspire countless people with his resilience and determination.

However, she eventually found her forever family, who taught her to navigate stairs and swim. Daisy and her human companion, Maryam Faresh, now travel to hospitals and schools, inspiring and motivating disabled individuals. Maryam shared with the Los Angeles Times, “You have this daily strength and inspiration and joy she gives off, and we felt we couldn’t keep that to ourselves.”

Burnett designed a custom “wheelchair” using airline tubing and valves to help the fish maintain its buoyancy and swim normally.
Burnett’s ingenious creation quickly captured hearts on social media, and the National Aquarium director praised the innovation, stating that it inspires the development of similar solutions for animals in need.
These stories showcase the extraordinary lengths people go to improve the lives of animals, proving that compassion and creativity know no bounds.
